1. Mrs. Katelyn Capper (K3) will take the year off with the soon-to-be birth
of her first child and she plans to return the following school year.
Mrs. Valerie DiBello will teach the class this school year.
2. As you may know, at the end of each school year I ask the students in
Grades 3 to 8 to let Mrs. Costello and I know how the school year went.
Grades 3 to 5 pretty much respond to the question by being grateful,
specific about their accomplishments, friends they made, plans for the
summer, etc. On the other hand, Grades 6 and 7 consider their time spent
at OLC a form of entitlement and their letters are a wish list of requests
that would drain the treasury of 5 states. So here we go: Elevators & longer
gym periods, (to me that negates elevators because using the stairs is the
warm up to gym class). Lockers in the hallways to make more room in the
classrooms (the lockers are tucked into the coat closets in the back of the
room; prior to the longed-for-lockers showing up I do not recall students
gathering at any time in the coat closets for fear of being punctured by
coat hooks). Re-paint the school, put a Hot Dog Stand in the gym along
with a souvenir/gift shop, more half-days, longer recess/lunch, dri-fit
gym uniforms, bicycle rack, keeping cell phones handy in case of an
emergency, etc. (not a bad idea if my blood pressure isn't stabilized by
September...) And the winner is... a young lad who suggested that Scholar
Dollars be printed with my picture on them! He is definitely scholarship
material! That's All Folks! Have a relaxing Fourth of July!
